» What an accomplished collection—congratulations on these wines that are unmatched in Mittelrhein! Starting from the dry wines that have this very fine slate spiciness paired with crisp fresh acidity to the off-dry wines which are simply outstanding throughout. «

3 stars Falstaff WineGuide

» The current wines impressed us greatly: The dry ones are firmly structured, dense with gripping minerality while the noble sweet ones combine highest concentration and great length with an almost playful character. «

» There is hardly another winery in Mittelrhein that invests so intensely in the future of the region… All its Rieslings exhibit very distinctive aromas that clearly differentiate them from one another.«

6 x 4 Grapes at Gault Millau WineGuide

» Trilogy Grand Cuvée Sparkling Wine: On the nose, notes of ripe apple, Mirabelle plum, roasted almonds, and quince. Lively and invigorating on the palate with a delicate nutty finish.

Feuerlay Riesling dry VDP. Großes Gewächs: Bitter orange, mate tea, and cucumber peel on the nose. Very refreshing with a herbal thyme note on the palate. A wonderful late summer wine.

Bopparder Hamm Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese: Wet stones, mushrooms, dashi, and orange zest on the nose. Exceptional and majestic presence. Very viscous on the palate with intense grip and great length. «

1st Place Riesling Noble Sweet

» This TBA nearly explodes in the glass, with aromas of orange peel, slight nutty tones, sage and eucalyptus, biscuit and dried fruit; on the palate mighty, powerful, sweetness and acidity at their peak, destined for a long life. «

“Collection of the Year“ at Cup der Gourmetwelten

»The Collection of the Year comes from VDP wine estate Matthias Müller. The vines are located in Bopparder Hamm – one of the most impressive steep slate slopes in the Middle Rhine Valley with the single vineyard sites Engelstein, Rabenlei, Ohlenberg, Feuerlay and Mandelstein. It is the steep slopes with an inclination of 30 to 70% that are a special challenge, best represented in the CUP by the Riesling “Steilstück” (steep parcel) vintage 2022 with a spectacular 94.4 points. This young Müller generation puts our focus back on the Middle Rhine again«

4.5 Stars Eichelmann WeinGuide

»As always, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the leading winery on the Middle Rhine. The 2022 Rieslings from Bopparder Hamm are all characterized by ripe citrus aromas, immensely juicy. This can be seen from the base to the top, from the dry wines to the fruity Kabinett. The Riesling from the Engelstein is ripe, spicy and very juicy, already quite accessible, with a persistent, sustainable finish showing notes of salty lemon. Ripe, mild and decidedly spicy, the Riesling from the Feuerlay also has a mineral core despite all the juiciness; the grippy aromas of citrus fruit zest keep the noticeable opulence in check. Our slight preference goes to the wine from the Mandelstein, which is compact, powerful and full of tension, constantly alternating between ripe and fresh impressions, gripping and long.«

»Wines with character, fine slate, acidity typical of the region and full-bodied fruit aromas. The Großes Gewächs wines are even more successful than before. Bopparder Hamm Feuerlay GG 2022 and Engelstein GG 2022 are on the same level with very good 91 points; Mandelstein GG 2022 is even one point better. Multi-layered with yellow fruit, slate on the nose and on the palate, juiciness of vineyard peach and other stone fruits.«

4.5 Stars Eichelmann WeinGuide

»This year’s collection of juicy, agile Rieslings from Bopparder Hamm is once again of the usual high and consistent standard, reflecting the subtle nuances between the different terroirs. All Rieslings have noticeably more freshness and acidity than in previous years, which gives them an attractive lightness.«

»The quality that came into the glass last year is confirmed by the current collection. Looking at the Großes Gewächs wines from Bopparder Hamm, Mandelstein and Engelstein are on a par; the Feuerlay ranks just a little higher. Although the differences are minimal, the Feuerlay is somewhat more mineral and multi-layered, and the slate soil is also more prominent on the palate.«

»As always, the Müllers’ program is dominated by exciting, aromatic Rieslings […], like the entire collection, are among the best on the Rhine.« »The wine from the Feuerlay is – last but not least – by far the most complex wine; its juiciness is an exciting contrast to the ripe acid vein; here everything is in the right place, is transparent and vibrantly mineral.«

— Eichelmann WeinGuide 2022

4 Trauben Gault Millau WeinGuide

»An almost effervescent minerality enters into a beguiling liaison with floral notes. Juicy-savory and spicy on the palate. This wine glows from within and brightens up your evening.«

1st Place Riesling Ortswein trocken

»A Riesling with a wonderful slatey spiciness that blends with vineyard peach and marjoram on the nose. This dense spiciness is also found on the palate, along with ripe citrus fruit and superbly integrated acidity. Provides enormous pleasure!«

94 Points for Feuerlay GG 2019

»The 2019 from the Feuerlay site received nothing but praise from the jury. They raved about its clear, fruity structure and enjoyed the smoky mineral nuances. It goes without saying that the wine has excellent length.«

4,5 Stars im Eichelmann WeinGuide

»The Müllers have recognized the signs of the times, have increasingly focused on dry wines in recent years and are now offering three Großes Gewächs wines for the first time with the 2019 vintage. And all three are outstanding. […] Our very slight preference is for the new Großes Gewächs from the Feuerlay, a site that has already produced exciting dry Rieslings from the “Edition MM” in the last two years. The wine is quite open on the nose, shows good concentration, yellow fruit, has plenty of ripe fruit in the mouth and lots of substance. The collection is also strong in other respects, showing a very good level throughout.«
